INDEPENDENT LIVING CLASSES AND SUPPORT GROUPS, LOW VISION AND YOUTH GROUPS
A supportive environment and education is essential in promoting independence.
Group and individual assistance is available to help individuals be more effective when facing the challenges of living independently with a disability.
- Healthy Relationships University (HRU): Teaches young adults ages 18-30 with disabilities how to develop healthy and safe relationships through class time and activities. The HRS young adult summer camp will begin June 8. A parent's night to discuss the new evidence-based curriculum will be held Thursday, May 13, 7 - 8 p.m. Contact Wendi at (435) 753-5353, or wnelson@optionsind.org

- June 8, 10, 15,17, & 29 and July 1, 6, & 8, July 9 a special activity will be held, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at OPTIONS.
Independent Living Classes and Support Groups - Schedules
- Individualized Support for People with Disabilities (Box Elder County): Assistance is available for Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), advocacy, skills training, problem solving and more in Box Elder County. Contact Deanna (435) 723-2171. Appointments can be scheduled in your home or OPTIONS' Brigham office.

- Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) Program:
A new program to assist people with all kinds of health and life challenges. It can help you feel better and stay well, manage medical challenges, decrease and prevent intrusive or troubling feelings/behaviors, control and improve your quality of life, plan and achieve your goals and dreams. WRAP is an 8 to 12-week program. Contact Kari at (435) 363-9038, for more info and to reserve your spot.

Women's Anxiety Group: An interactive group for women with disabilities who are experiencing anxiety, depression and other mental health issues. Therapy, education and support is provided to assist. Low Vision Activities

OPTIONS offers a variety of resources and services to assist with vision loss. For more information on OPTIONS' Low Vision Program. Contact Marty, (435) 753-5353
Division of Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired (DSBVI) Clinic: DSBVI conducts clinics to assist individuals with low vision needs. Participation requires a referral from an eye care professional. Call DSBVI at (800) 284-1823, or Marty at (435) 753-5353 for an appointment.
- May 18 and June 15, between 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at OPTIONS in Logan. By appointment only.
Low Vision Support Group: For adults age 55 and older who have visual disabilities.. Topics include education, resources and new technology for those with vision loss and blindness. Community access, independent living skills, discussion on issues that are of concern and problem solving techniques are also part of the group.

Youth Groups
OPTIONS' Youth Program is for youth with all kinds of disabilities, ages 12 to 30. Activities provide the opportunity to learn, grow and have fun with peers!
All May and June activities for the Youth Program are announced as they are scheduled through email and/or OPTIONS' main facebook page. If you do not have access to a computer, please contact Sheri at (435) 753-5353 or sstevens@optionsind.org for information on upcoming activities, or the Youth Program in general.
SIGN UP FOR ALL YOUTH ACTIVITIES MUST BE DONE WITH SHERI, 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE - THIS INCLUDES ZOOM/VIRTUAL ACTIVITIES IN ORDER FOR NEEDED SUPPLIES TO BE DELIVERED TO YOU AT HOME.

- May 27 - Spiral Jetty & Eat at Maddox Drive-In. A combined activity with CIP participants. Meet at 4 p.m. at OPTIONS. Food cost will vary, and activity donation is $2.

- June 11 - Free Family Fishing Day, roasting hotdogs and making smores. A combined activity with CIP participants. Meet at 5 p.m. at the Wellsville Pond, 100 East 500 South, Wellsville. No cost.
- June 16 - Cooking Club. 6 p.m. at OPTIONS or thru Zoom if needed. Food donation is $1.
- June 26 - Finance & Budgeting Class with Treats. 6 p.m. at OPTIONS or thru Zoom if needed. No cost. .
YOUTH ACTIVITIES
NO youth classes or activities will be held the week of June 21 to 25 due to the NINJA Conference on June 22 to 24.

Transportation

OPTIONS' Logan Office Hours are Monday thru Thursday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Brigham Office operates by appointment only (435) 723-2171. Both offices are CLOSED week-ends and all State & Federal holidays.

OPTIONS' transportation is limited and reserved for those who have no other means of transportation on a first call first served basis until maximum capacity is reached. Transportation is for OPTIONS' activities and consumers exclusively. It is not available to the public at large.
Transportation requests must be made at least 48 hours in advance. A donation of $2 in OPTIONS' service area (Box Elder, Cache and Rich Counties), and $5 for out of OPTIONS' service area for activities is suggested. No donation is requested for transportation to OPTIONS' Classes and Support Groups. OPTIONS encourages you to use the CVTD busing system when possible.

Independent Living and Support Groups - Descriptions
The following information/support groups are currently available through OPTIONS for Independence. Participation is open to residents of Box Elder, Cache and Rich Counties.

Division of Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired (DSBVI) Clinics
Low vision needs are addressed at clinics conducted by the Division of Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired (DSBVI) in conjunction with OPTIONS. Individuals must have a referral from an eye care professional in order to participate.
Healthy Relationships University (HRU)
Teaches young adults ages 18 - 30 with disabilities how to develop healthy and safe relationships. A collaborative effort between OPTIONS for Independence and CAPSA.

Independent Living (IL) Skills Classes
Open to people with all kinds of disabilities. Learn basic skills for living life independently and to the fullest. Topics are prioritized by need and participant selection.

Individual Support for Students with Disabilities and Families
Individualized Support for Students with Disabilities and Families in Box Elder County is offered on information, referral, advocacy, skills training, etc. to help solve problems and provide answers to questions. A certified Individualized Education Program (IEP) Coach is available to assist in these areas as well as helping students set goals and attend IEPs.

Low Vision
Low Vision support groups are held in Logan for adults age 55 and older who have visual disabilities, macular degeneration and/or retinal disease. Activities include sharing concerns and feelings of isolation, problem solving techniques, tips on how to adapt the living environment, guest speakers and community awareness.

Peer to Peer
Arranged individually as needed or in a group setting. Receive support and training on resources available in the community from those who have "been there; done that" and want to share with others.

Therapy
Individual or group behavioral therapy is available for individuals with disabilities age 18 and over to work through issues like anxiety, depression, being overwhelmed, etc.
